The Continental is designed to provide an excellent comfort and a quality ride
in a highly maneuverable car with a distinctive style. The continental offers
the latest technology with electronically adjustable suspension and steering systems.
A four speed automatic transmission uses the Ford's modular 4.6-liter V8 engine
but its uses dual overhead cam and 32 valves. It doesn't require tune-ups in 100,000
miles the power delivery is smooth and hushed.
Flat tires are less of a concern with optional "run flat" tires that can go 100
miles after looses the tire air pressure. The Michelin MX4ZP tires are part of
a system "SecuriTire" that includes an overhead console lamp that lights when
a tire pressure drops below 18 psi; it starts flashing at 10 psi when the driver
didn't notice.
An anti-theft system uses an encoded radio frequency between the key and the
ignition capable, generating 72 quadrillion codes, making it virtually impossible
to beat. Four-wheel disc brakes with a four-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS)
dual airbags, traction control and side-impact beams are standard.
